Work continues at our biodiversity sites

Our Clean & Green Team have started the process of cutting the 79 designated biodiversity areas that we are nurturing across the district.

We are removing all the clippings and the autumn cut is essential for keeping excess grass and weeds at bay. At our more mature biodiversity areas the cuttings are being left on the ground for a week to 10 days to ensure all the seeds have fallen. The clippings are then removed.

In areas with challenging terrain or vigorous grass growth, the cutting and removal of clippings is happening on the same day.

The long-term aim is to reduce the fertility of the sites, allowing for greater biodiversity.
