Severn Trent Water have given us notice that they require a section of our Matlock Imperial Road (Lido) car park to be closed for approximately 10 working days with effect from this coming Monday, 28 October, to allow essential site investigations to take place, including three trial holes.
The remainder of the car park will continue to be available for public parking throughout the works.
Severn Trent Water have statutory powers to undertake these works in accordance with the Water Industry Act 1991 and have served us with a legal notice.
The trial holes are to assess the viability of a proposed scheme to install a large, combined sewer overflow tank under the car park to alleviate discharges into the river in storm conditions from the combined sewer serving the top of Matlock and running down Bank Road.
