Our Waste & Recycling Team has been running a competition for primary school children in the Derbyshire Dales.
The competition was to suggest a ‘unique recycling name’ for the five recycling vehicles used around the district.
Hundreds of children took part and we received some amazing name suggestions!
These are the five names chosen by the Waste & Recycling Team:
- Recycle McCycle by Bella from Matlock Bath Holy Trinity School
- Recyclosaurus – Rex by Annabelle from Darley Dale Primary School
- Recyclopes by Oscar from Bradwell Junior School (photo - Kathryn McGuinness)
- Rusty the Recycling Truck by Emmy from South Darley Primary School
- Bin Beauty by Jessie from Brassington Primary School
Two prizes of £50 each for the top two names were chosen by the public, on a social media vote.
We presented the cheques to the two schools last week and the prizes were presented to Rhalina from Darley Dale Primary School and Kathryn from Bradwell Junior School.
A big thank you to all the children and schools that took part and keep a look out for the new names on the vehicles!
