Public meetings to be held as part of Traveller site consultation

Derbyshire Dales District Council is currently holding an eight-week public consultation on possible temporary Traveller sites at six Derbyshire Dales locations.

The consultation comprises this online survey and a series of public meetings to be held in the vicinity of the six possible sites.

These meetings will be held to discuss each of the possible sites and will provide a further opportunity for residents to respond to the consultation.

The dates and venues for the public meetings are:

  • Friday 13th September, 6pm – 8pm at Rowsley Village Hall, School Lane, Rowsley

Possible site: Car Park, Old Station Close, Rowsley

  • Monday 16th September, 6pm – 8pm at The Pump Room, Peak District Mining Museum, South Parade, Matlock Bath

Possible site: Station Yard Car Park, Dale Road, Matlock Bath

  • Wednesday 18th September, 6pm – 8pm at Holy Trinity Church, Main Street, Middleton by Wirksworth,

Possible site: Land north-west of Cemetery, New Road, Middleton.

  • Friday 20th September, 6pm – 8pm at Main Hall, Wirksworth Town Hall, Coldwell Street, Wirksworth

Possible site: Land to south-east of Hopton Works, Middleton Road, Wirksworth, also known as land on the south-west side of Middleton Road, Wirksworth

  • Monday 23rd September, 6pm – 8pm at Council Chamber, Matlock Town Hall, Bank Road, Matlock

Possible sites: Car Park, Derwent Way, Matlock and Arc Leisure Car Parks, Morledge, Matlock

As a result of one of these meetings being organised after the planned end date of the consultation, it has been agreed that the consultation process will be extended by a week, making the new closing date Sunday 29th September.
