Pre-election period

The short notice calling of the General Election has consequences as we are now into the official "pre-election period" (formally known as purdah), which means the business of this council cannot interfere with or influence how our residents will vote on 4 July.

So although we have a legal responsibility to continue to hold our Community & Environment Committee meeting this coming Thursday, 30 May, as it has already been convened, there are two potentially controversial items on the original agenda that will not now be debated until after the General Election.
