Our crews are out and doing their best to collect from as many roads as possible, each day. Conditions vary, so most roads are drivable, some side roads are still proving tricky for our vehicles. When they stop, they often struggle to regain traction, which increases the risk of sliding. Additionally, many pavements are still covered in snow and ice, making them hazardous for our crews.
Collections are still generally running a day behind but where possible we are catching up on some rounds.
We will keep residents updated as we monitor the weather throughout the rest of the week and prioritise safety. However, the big message to all residents is to put your bins out on your scheduled collection day and keep your bins out, until we recover the rounds.
How you can help our crews:
- Keep bin lids fully closed, this will stop snow, sleet, and rain from getting in the bin and keep the contents from freezing. Our crews will shake the bins several times to release the contents, but some waste may remain stuck in extreme conditions.
- Loosen your waste within your bin by using a rake or brush handle end, if possible.
- Check regularly that your bin lid is not covered in snow, frozen and can be opened easily. If your bin cannot be opened, it cannot be emptied.
- Where possible, please keep areas around your bins free from snow and ice.
We appreciate your patience and understanding, as we prioritise the safety of our crews and residents.
