Liability Insurance Claims

Instructions for Solicitors

In order to comply with the Ministry of Justice Pre-Action Protocol for low value (£1,000 - £25,000) personal injury claims, we expect claimant solicitors to use the electronic portal to send completed Claim Notification Forms (CNFs) (PL1 or EL1) directly to our liability insurer as follows:

CNF PL2 / EL2 (Defendant Only) forms should be emailed to insurances@derbyshiredales.gov.uk 

Please note that the time period for response, as defined by the protocol, will not be deemed to have started until the CNF is received on the portal by our insurers. 

Where the claim relates to latent disease please use CNF ELD2 as appropriate or relevant. 

Instructions for Claimants without a Legal Representative

Please complete the Claim Notification Form and email it to insurances@derbyshiredales.gov.uk or post it to:

The Council will aim to issue an acknowledgment to you within 24 hours of receipt of your CNF. 

Once your completed CNF is received by the Council’s Insurance Team, it will be passed immediately to our liability insurers, who will handle the claim on the Council’s behalf, through to its conclusion.
