Derbyshire Dales District Council operates a Conservation Advisory Forum. The role of this Forum is "to evaluate and comment upon any application for listed building consent, conservation area consent or planning permission that may have an impact on the character, appearance and setting of any designated heritage asset (Historic Building, Conservation Area, World Heritage Site or Scheduled Monument)" within the Derbyshire Dales District (outside of the Peak District National Park).
The Conservation Advisory Forum is an advisory body and does not make decisions or recommendations. However, the views of the Forum are important and are considered as part of the Council's wider decision making process. The Forum meets monthly on the third Tuesday of the month with representatives from the:-
- Arkwright Society
- Derbyshire County Council
- Derbyshire Historic Buildings Trust
- Matlock Civic Society
- Wirksworth Civic Society
- Royal Institute of British Architects
- Royal Town Planning Institute
- Derbyshire Archaeological Society
The Forum meetings are not public meetings and are therefore not open to attendance by the public, owners or their agents. The views of the Forum are however, recorded on the application case files for public inspection.
