Council Tax Support Appeals
Council Tax Support works like a benefit, to reduce the payments that you are expected to make on your home.
We will use the income details provided by you to calculate and award Council Tax Support entitlement. We will then send you printed letters explaining this outcome and list the circumstances used to decide your claim.
We are here to help and will explain the decisions made on your claim. If you are unsure of why we have made our decision, you can ask us to provide a fuller explanation of our decision or for us to reconsider that decision on your entitlement.
We will check our decision and then write back to you. If you remain unhappy with this outcome, you may appeal within one calendar month to the Valuation Tribunal Service (VOA).
You can appeal against our decision about -
- Whether you are entitled to a council tax reduction, or
- How much council tax reduction Derbyshire Dales has awarded you under our Local Scheme.
The Tribunal cannot consider appeals about the content of the council's scheme, only about the way in which we have applied our rules to making a decision on your claim.
