Retrofit project shortlisted for top award

Our retrofit work has been shortlisted for ‘best small retrofit project of the year’ at the prestigious Futurebuild awards.

The project is the sympathetic whole house retrofit of the six Harrison Almshouses in Matlock, which date back to the 1890s. The properties were rated EPC F/G before renovations were undertaken, with residents struggling to keep their homes warm.

The EPC on the completed properties has improved to B, with an estimated CO2e annual saving of 6t per property and significant reduction in fuel bills.

Only one other council is shortlisted across all the Futurebuild categories - and the winners will be announced this evening (1 March).

The District Council's Director of Housing, Rob Cogings said:
"This is a significant achievement with the judges looking for excellence in service, consistent delivery of high quality work and a proven commitment to retrofit principles."
