WATCH | Community & Environment Committee, 5 July

The 5 July meeting of our Community & Environment Committee was broadcast live from the Members' Room at County Hall, Matlock, from 6pm.

With no extension made by central government to the law enabling local authorities to meet remotely, Derbyshire Dales District Council has to meet in physical socially distanced spaces for the foreseeable future.

Our own Council Chamber at Matlock Town Hall is not big enough or well ventilated enough to safely hold reduced-number meetings.

Agenda items debated included a report on the District Council's future Public Space Protection Orders and an update report on the proposed conversion of Matlock Market Hall to a two-screen cinema and additional food and beverage retail unit.

The Committee was also be asked to note a report updating Members on the actions taken following the declaration of an Air Quality Management Area in Ashbourne.

Councillors received a report on details of the representations received during a six week public consultation on the draft Climate Change Supplementary Planning Document.

Other agenda items included a report detailing the Government’s new First Homes policy and details of the Council's current affordable housing programme.
