Covid Marshals patrolling at weekends

As coronavirus lockdown rules ease we have Covid Marshals on duty every weekend to support local businesses and visitors in Derbyshire Dales hotspots.

First introduced with Government funding at the end of last year, our Marshals positively engage with businesses and the public, promoting Covid-secure measures as we move through the ‘Roadmap’.

All staff are SIA (Security Industry Authority) approved.

A District Council spokesperson said:
"We have committed to a two person resource from the same security company through to the end of August.
"We view them as a valuable resource given our status as a visitor destination. They are also our eyes and ears, reporting any Covid themes or issues of concern that we need to follow-up as a service through our permanent staff or share with colleagues and partners.
"They have also proved a good sounding board for some of the public messaging, signage and highway measures introduced in popular visitor locations such as Matlock Bath."

The Marshals work in an advisory capacity and they are building a positive rapport with local businesses.

The spokesperson added:
"Their patrol patterns are projected on a weekly basis and mainly cover Ashbourne, Bakewell, Matlock and Matlock Bath, together with Hathersage, Cromford and Wirksworth."
