A year ago, the District Council's legal team embarked on a voluntary programme of registration after the Government tasked HM Land Registry to encourage all local authorities to undertake the work.
And now HM Land Registry's Public Sector Engagement Coordinator Pam Patchett, accompanied by her manager Richard Fretwell, has visited the District Council's Matlock Town Hall headquarters to present a congratulatory certificate to the Council's Governance and Resources Committee Chairman Councillor Sue Bull.
Said Pam:
"We have been working with Derbyshire Dales on this project since March last year and I am delighted that they have led the way in successfully registering all of the assets that they own. This will mean that future transactions relating to their land and properties will be simpler, faster and cheaper.”Councillor Bull said:
"Our legal team has undertaken an incredibly detailed piece of work, with some of the individual land holdings no bigger than a desktop. This achievement has ensured these assets are now protected under HM Registry's state guarantee in a programme that supports the Government's commitment to greater transparency of land interests."
