Organisations invited to enhance award-winning park

Expressions of interest are being invited from businesses, charities or special interest groups interested in using your District Council's award-winning Hall Leys Park to enhance visitors' experience.

Two buildings - the Grounds Maintenance Store and Rangers' Station - and a former putting green in the Green Flag park are currently available for regular occupation.

Activities considered for a lease or licence must be compatible with other park uses and will not include the supply of food and drink, as the park already has excellent cafe and ice cream franchises.

The stone-built Grounds Maintenance Store, constructed in the 1940s, measures 27 square metres and is divided inside into three areas and a toilet, and is situated between the cafe and boating lake. It is being marketed with the nearby former putting green, but either space could be used independently.

A more modern building constructed in 2005, the Ranger Station measures 70 square metres and is located at the south end of the park, near Knowleston Place. It features a workshop, kitchen, shower and toilet. The land outside the Ranger Station would also available to any organisation taking on the building.

In September the District Council launched a public consultation on new approaches to the way the land and property the authority owns is managed.

Chief Executive Paul Wilson said: "On behalf of local people we want to make the most of the value of these assets and to do this we believe we need to adopt a more commercial focus, creating new funding streams to benefit the local services we deliver for the residents we serve."

More information, together with an Expressions of Interest Forms can be found in the documents below. The form must be completed and returned to the District Council by 12 noon on 10 January 2019.
