See below the photo album from a busy relaunch day for our Ashbourne Thursday stall market at a new trial venue.
All 22 stalls were booked in advance for the grand re-opening in the area known locally as Civic Square (between Waitrose and Ashbourne Library), which had been levelled in preparation.
The opening day market offering featured a range of products from fruit & veg, flowers, plants, bread and fish to organic pies and cheese, fashion, candles, football memorabilia, antiques and collectables.
Your District Council closed the market temporarily at the start of the year following a consultation with Ashbourne Town Council, stall holders, residents and local businesses. In the last few months at its Market Place location, despite stalls being offered at only £10 a day, occupation was down as low as zero.
It was the market traders themselves who suggested trialling the new location.
The District Council is continuing to offer stalls at a discounted £10 a day as the new location finds its feet.
