Register by 20 April – or lose your vote

Derbyshire Dales District Council is organising all elections in the Dales on 7 May, including Parliamentary, district, town and parish elections, a County Council by-election in Ashbourne and a Wirksworth Neighbourhood Plan referendum.

Dorcas BuntonThe District Council's Chief Executive Dorcas Bunton, who is also Acting Returning Officer, said:

"Our big message in the next week is make sure you are registered to vote before the deadline of next Monday, 20 April.

"It only takes five minutes to register online at www.gov.uk/register-to-vote - just make sure you have your National Insurance number to hand.

"The online service also enables you to update your name, address or other details on the electoral register - and you need to be on the electoral register to vote in elections and referendums.

"Traditionally, the Derbyshire Dales turns out in large numbers at elections time - the turnout here at the last General Election in 2010 was 73.8% - and we want to maintain that impressive record."

More details about the 7 May elections, including a full list of candidates, can be found here.
