Statement of Community Involvement 2019
Section 18 of the Planning and Compulsory Purchase Act (2004) (as amended) requires that the District Council prepare a Statement of Community Involvement (SCI).
The purpose of the SCI is to explain to local communities and stakeholders how they will be involved in the preparation, alteration and review of Local Plans and also in the determination of planning applications. Local planning authorities are also required to set out in the SCI their policies for giving advice or assistance to neighbourhood planning groups and their policies for involving communities and other interested parties in the preliminary stages of plan making.
The previously adopted Statement of Community Involvement (2016) has been revised and updated to reflect statutory requirements and best practice. The updated Statement of Community Involvement (2019) was adopted by the District Council at its meeting of the Community and Environment Committee on 10th January 2019.
