BCB Coated Stone Ltd operate a road stone coating process, regulated under section 3.5 of the Environmental Permitting Regulations, at Darlton Quarry, Stoney Middleton.
A Braham Miller coating plant is used to produce a range of coated products from aggregates, binders and fillers, and to dry materials for bagging using both crushed and screened limestone and imported roadstone. Two rotary dryers are employed that are equipped to use either natural gas or recovered oil as a fuel. Dust arrestment on the Braham Miller Coating plant and dryers is provided by a two stage ACP dust collection unit comprising of a primary skimmer unit and a secondary reverse air cleaning bag filter. Filler is stored in two small silos.
Previously aggregates were supplied directly from Darlton Quarry. The Quarry is no longer operational and aggregate used in the production of coated products is either sourced from stockpiled material or imported from off-site.
Emissions from the coating plant are required to comply with an emission limit of 50 mg/m3 and emissions testing is undertaken annually.
