Pest control

Our Pest Control Service has been suspended whilst we conduct a full review of the resources. It is unlikely to be running for the rest of the year, but you can search for a Trusted Trader at Derbyshire County Council.

Pest control services

We provide discreet and professional services to control a wide range of pests including:

  • Rats
  • Mice
  • Ants
  • Fleas
  • Cockroaches
  • Wasps (Please note that this service is only available after 30th June)
  • Bedbugs
  • Cluster flies

The Pest Control service is provided by two full-time operatives who are employed to carry out a variety of pest control treatments.

There is a charge for all Pest Control treatments. A concession of 50% of the standard charge is available to residents who are 65 or over and in receipt of Housing or Council Tax Benefit. We require payment before a visit is made. When payment is received we will endeavour to visit you within five working days, but often much sooner. If you would like to arrange a pest control treatment please contact us.

How to pay

  • Telephone the Environment Hotline 01629 761215 to pay by credit/debit card
  • Call in to the offices at Matlock Town Hall and pay by credit/debit card

Payment must be made in advance. Please note that the advice charge is non-refundable.

Regular treatments are carried out in public areas for rats, mice and pigeons.

The demand for the pest control service fluctuates throughout the year. The summer period is extremely busy with numerous requests to treat wasps. Complaints about rats and mice also increase in the warmer months. A combination of mass tourism and takeaway food/picnics provides an easy food supply for rodents. Please put all litter in the bins provided or take it home.

We also provide advice on vermin-related public health matters and the council has statutory powers to deal with situations in domestic, commercial and public environments.
