Bag - Blue (cardboard, paper & plastics)

Blue bag

A small number of properties are not suitable for a blue-lid recycling bin because of access difficulties, and such properties are provided with 2 blue bags - one for paper and cardboard and the other for plastic bottles and containers.

Blue bags are collected each fortnight along with the blue box and food caddy. The blue bag should be placed at the edge of your property by 7.00am on your collection day.

What to put in your two blue bags

Bag one

  • magazines
  • postal advertising
  • white and brown envelopes
  • paper (including shredded paper)
  • telephone directories (including yellow pages)
  • card
  • cardboard

Please flatten and where possible remove all staples and packaging tape. Please remove all polystyrene and bubble wrap. Flatten large pieces of cardboard that will not fit in your blue bag and place them securely under your blue bag or blue box.

Please do not mix the two types of recyclable materials in the two bags.  We can't recycle the material if the two recycling bags contain mixed items.

What not to put in your blue bag

Everything else not mentioned in the what to put in your blue bag section but most notably, no:

Requesting a new/replacement bag

Two recycling bags will be provided per property.  Additional bags can be requested if you have extra recycling on a regular basis online request form.

If your blue bag is damaged or goes missing please complete our online request form.  Your new bag will be delivered within 10 working days of your request.  All recycling bags are provided free of charge.

Insufficient number of bags

Usually only two recycling bags will be provided per property. We'll take additional material if placed at the side of your recycling bags providing it is easily identified as recycling material and is suitably contained. Use transparent containers (such as stacker boxes) rather than black bags so that the content can be easily identified. Additional bags can be requested if you have extra recycling on a regular basis online request form.
