My garden waste

From 1 April 2021 Derbyshire Dales residents needed to opt in to our new garden waste subscription scheme.

Subscriptions and renewals for the year starting 1 April 2022 are now available. If you have subscribed for the current year 2021/22 you should have received an email or letter with your discount code to renew at £35.

However you don't need that correspondence to renew if you are a 2021/22 subscriber. Simply note the subscription ID on your current bin sticker (this is your discount code) and use it to claim the £35 discounted 2022/23 price during the application processClick here to subscribe

The £35 discounted renewal price (available for existing subscribers only) recognises the disruptions to collections some households experienced in 2021/22, caused primarily by a national shortage of HGV drivers. This included two planned missed collections when the garden waste scheme was temporarily paused in the summer.

Please note that while some residents took advantage of a one-off £35 early bird price in the current year, it was always intended that the subscription price for all in 2022/23 would be £50 per container.

How does the scheme work?

On joining the garden waste scheme we will send you a tamper-proof bin sticker. A collection calendar can be accessed if you have signed up to the My Account feature here on our website.

Your garden waste will be collected fortnightly from the start of April to the end of March the following year.

Leave your current Derbyshire Dales garden bin out on the edge of your property in plain sight by 7am on your collection day and we’ll collect the waste and take it to a local reprocessing facility, where it is turned into compost for farms and gardens.
