Covid-19 notice:
Please note that this scheme will not operate in 2021 due to the covid-19 pandemic. Please visit the Gov.uk website for Covid-19 guidance.
Along with Derbyshire Fire and Rescue Service we operate a voluntary Bonfire and Firework Safety registration scheme.
The scheme aims to provide event organisers with free fire safety information to assist them to operate an event in a safe manner. Your plans will be assessed by the fire safety officer and if satisfied we will accept your registration onto the scheme.
Event organisers will also need to ensure that they meet their responsibilities under health and safety legislation. It is a legal requirement to carry out a written risk assessment before the event takes place. This risk assessment must be reviewed on the day of the event in case of changes in circumstances e.g. poor weather conditions.
A guide by the HSE, Giving your own firework display- How to run and fire it safely can be obtained by clicking on the link.
If you wish to take part in our voluntary Scheme, you can download the document below and once completed send or email it to the contact details below. This document, including a copy of your public liability insurance should be submitted at least 8 weeks before your event.
You can also let us know by contacting us by email or telephone.
Further advice can be obtained from the websites linked to below to assist you to comply with your legal requirements and run a safer event.
