What is happening where, and when?

Work to the highways and public spaces will take place at Shrovetide Walk, Millenium Square, Victoria Square and the Market Place, and on St John Street, Dig Street, Buxton Road, Station Road, Shaw Croft and Horse and Jockey Yard. Works will be phased, and are due to start late summer 2024 and finish autumn 2025. This project is led by Derbyshire County Council.

Work to create the Link Community Hub will take place at Ashbourne Methodist Church on the corner of Church Street and Station Road. It is expected to start late summer 2024 and end autumn 2025. This project is led by Ashbourne Methodist Church.

The contractors that will carry out the work are producing a timetable which will aim to minimise disruption as much as possible and take into account feedback from businesses, as well as events that are planned in the town centre. We will share more details when they are available.

How do I find out how my business will be affected?

If you have a business in Ashbourne and would like email updates about planned works, you can sign up for our business-specific mailing list to receive the latest news straight to your inbox.

What are you doing to mitigate the impact of this work?

We know that local businesses support the changes as they will create a more vibrant town and strengthen the local economy, however, everyone appreciates that delivering the change will be disruptive in the short term. We are committed to reducing that disruption as much as possible and working closely throughout the project with local residents, businesses and visitors to work out how we can minimise the impact on their daily lives and trade.

The County Council will be developing detailed traffic management plans to ensure there are appropriate alternative routes during periods when roads will need to close in the town centre.

Will I be able to open as usual?

Yes. Businesses will be able to open as usual, contractors must ensure that you and your customers are able to access your premises. The contractors will work with you to identify any practical arrangements that could be affected by the works, like deliveries or waste collection.

How do I get in touch?
